Believed to be a descendant of the Barbet French water dog, the Bichon Frise was introduced into the United States in 1956. It was later registered with the American Kennel Club in 1972 and the Crufts Dog Show in London in 1980.
The Bichon Frise is a small dog that resembles a miniature poodle. The coat is white and although they can be hard to see, the ears are long and hang close to the head. It averages 9 to 11 inches in height from the withers and generally weighs about 13 pounds or less.
The Bichon Frise has become one of the most popular pet companions in the US. Not only do they have the extremely adorable looks but they are very friendly. This is an active breed that enjoys to play and they are very sociable.
